Absentee Voting

Voting by Absentee Ballot

Voting absentee is a convenient and safe option for casting your ballot. In Wisconsin, any registered voter can vote early by casting an in-person absentee ballot at their municipal clerk’s office or cast their absentee ballot by mail. Find out more about this secure and convenient way to exercise your right to vote.

You can submit an absentee request to the clerk at MyVote.wi.gov (click on “Vote Absentee” at the top of the website).

*If Dane County voters have any problems uploading a drivers’ license, or needing a witness for their absentee ballot, or a ride to the DMV to get an ID, they can get help from the Dane County Voter ID Coalition.  The Help Line number is 608-285-2141.

Or, an absentee ballot can be requested via mail, email, or by submitting the Absentee Ballot Request form, EL-121.   The request must be in writing and include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Address to which the ballot should be mailed
  • Signature
  • Voter ID is required.  A copy of your Voter ID must be submitted with the written request.

An absentee ballot can be voted by appointment or during the in-person absentee voting hours.  Ballots will be mailed out through the Thursday before the election.  Absentee ballots must be returned by the close of the polls on Election Day in order to be counted.

Contact the Town Clerk to submit a request, or make an appointment.
